Durga pujo celebration of Patuatola Bandhyopadhyay family

Durga pujo celebration of Patuatola Bandhyopadhyay family dates back to 1791 when Ram Hari Bandhyopadhyay came from Nawgaon in Nadia district in 1785 and started residing at 54 Patuatola Lane near College Street, Kolkata.

After a few years his brother Ram Nidhi Bandhyopadhyay came from Nawgaon and stayed with him. Both the brothers were very dedicated and hardworking towards their work and could establish themselves in no time. They planned to celebrate a ten days Durga pujo at their home.

Ram Nidhi’s son Tarachand Bandhyopadhyay (1812--- ) grew up in Kolkata in a locality where education was flourishing. Schools, Colleges and Universities were coming up and started becoming an educational hub of India.
